We received the Inquiry from India Mart where a customer complained about water quality issues which he was facing for a couple of months. We understood the Seriousness of the issue and mobilized our sales team to the site to understand the requirement and propose a suitable solution.
Upon first-hand examination of the site and the Water, it was found that due to the rains the water quality had worsened i.e. it was completely muddy and the guests were complaining about the Colour, odour and taste. The water supply was from a bore well and was fed to a sand filter following which the supply was made to the tanks as output water. The filter tank which was supplied & installed is usually used for Swimming Pools & not suitable for Water treatment filtration.
The owner requested quick assistance considering the complains from the guests, we collected the Water samples for testing and below were the results.
As indicated in the above reports Turbidity, Total Hardness and Total Dissolved Solids all three were high. The Turbidity should be Max 1.0, Hardness should be Max 200 and Total Dissolved Solids should be Max 500 however all the parameters were way off the permissible limits.
There were many challenges like the Space available, time by which the Solution had to be Provided. Our Designers proposed the below solution suggested was to install 3 filter tanks that is Pressure sand Filter (PSF), Activated Carbon Filter (ACF), Water Softener and 5 Micron Water cartridge filter considering the application and the use of the Product Water.
The filtration media layer consists of a Pebbles, Gravels, Mix Sand with a variety in size and specific gravity. Feed pump is used for generating necessary operating pressure in the pressure sand filter. Feed water is passed through Sand Filter to reduce the suspended solids present in the raw water.
Carbon filtering is a method of filtering that uses a bed of activated carbon to remove contaminants and impurities, using chemical absorption. Each particle/granule of carbon provides a large surface area/pore structure, allowing contaminants the maximum possible exposure to the active sites within the filter media. The Activated Carbon largely removes the Colour & Odour from the water.
Water softening is the removal of calcium, magnesium, and certain other metal cations in hard water. The resulting soft water which requires less soap for the same cleaning effort, as soap is not wasted bonding with calcium ions. Soft water also extends the lifetime of plumbing by reducing or eliminating scale build-up in pipes and fittings. Water softening is usually achieved using lime softening or ion-exchange resins.
A water filter removes impurities by lowering contamination of water using a fine physical barrier, a chemical process, or a biological process. It removes the fine particles up to 05 microns and reduce silt density index levels to acceptable level.
